Myth for Modern Men: A Letter to My Son

In modern times, boys, who are becoming men, are called to be individuals, to follow their own quests, but rather than encourage the process of self-discovery, modern institutions often push men into a state of compliance.

Society seldom encourages young men to explore their values nor to think critically, and they don’t teach necessary truths about the self, myth, psychology, emotions, fulfillment, education, money, careers, spirituality, relationships, or sex.

However, the world needs men who are balanced, aware, emotionally intelligent, and driven to become whole individuals, who can contribute to families, communities, and society in a healthy way.

I wrote this letter for my son, so he would have a reference point for his own individuation quest, a map if you will, and now I’ve decided to share it with you.

"No doubt this is one of those texts that will provide a lifetime of reflection; revisiting with experience and aging. A profound way to continue a dialogue with our sons!"

"This is so necessary for young men. I see this as a group that desperately needs this information and this is exactly how it should be presented. Of course, it's also useful for all age groups which is a bonus."
